Capitals bomb Flames in the 2nd period and celebrate a victory!

Sorry for the lateness, had some hardware problems yesterday.

Our prediction on the and match-up turned out to be correct. Capitals ran over the Flames in the 2nd period and took home a 7-2 win, our result prediction was a little bit more modest 3-2.

Capitals: Ovechkins 2 goals (both on power play) and 1 assist was the breakthrough in Capitals game, after struggling in the first period and going into intermission behind 1-2.
As we predicted the 3 team leaders (Ovechkin, Semin, Backstrom) did their job extremely well scoring 4+6 Pts combined (2+1 for Ovechkin, 1+2 for Semin and 1+3 for Backstrom).
Also their goalie Neuvirth had a solid 2nd and 3rd period, only allowing 2 out of 29 shots in the game.

Flames: Flames had a good 1st period 2-1 going into the 1st intermission. But the second period was a disaster. 7 unanswered goals total, and after starting the game good a painful loss 7-2. Goals for the Flames scored by Jokinen and Glencross. Bad night for Kiprusoff stopping only 15 out of 22 shots by the end of the 2nd period.

Leaders in numbers:

  • Points: 4 - Backstrom
  • Time on Ice (TOI): 24:55 - Green
